Market days in the Aude

Why not take advantage of your holiday by the sea near Narbonne at camping Domaine de la Palme to immerse yourself in the gastronomy of the Occitan region? Go and meet the producers and buy your fresh local produce at the markets, a very popular activity in the Aude.

The morning markets

Local markets are usually held between 8am or 9am and 1pm once, twice or even three times a week:

  • Tuesday mornings: Carcassonne (Place Carnot), Rieux-Minervois, Caunes-Minervois, Montlaur (all day until 5pm)
  • Wednesday morning: Laure-Minervois, Villeneuve-Minervois, La Redorte
  • Thursday mornings: Rieux-Minervois, Caunes-Minervois, Carcassonne (place Carnot) and Alzonne
  • Friday morning: Azille
  • Saturday morning: Rieux-Minervois, Caunes-Minervois, Carcassonne (place Carnot)
  • Sunday morning: Conques-sur-Orbiel, Trèbes.

Good to know: the Trèbes market, which is held on the port of the Canal du Midi, has a very special charm and is one of our favourites.

Typical markets

If you want to discover more about the region, head for the typical markets of the Aude. You will find many local products such as hazelnuts, truffles, asparagus, olives, cherries and several types of cheese.

  • Mondays: Mirepoix and Castelnaudary
  • Tuesdays: Olonzac
  • Wednesdays: Bram and Lézignan
  • Saturdays: Carcassonne
  • Sundays: Saint-Chinian

Good to know: take advantage of your diversions to Castelnaudary to taste the local dish known throughout the world: cassoulet!
