Would you like to stay at a campsite in Limoux or in the surrounding area? The Domaine de La Palme offers you a 3-star camping holiday in the Aude, just over an hour's drive from Limoux.
For many of us, Limoux is synonymous with wine. A richness that cannot be ignored in this region that has been awarded the "Vignobles et Découvertes" label. A trip to Limoux in mid-August will be an opportunity to discover the diversity of its sparkling wines during the Vignes et Terroir en fête. Wine and history are intimately intertwined here, since the monks of the Saint-Hilaire abbey are said to have been at the origin of the Blanquette de Limoux in the 16th century. In the heart of the Aude, 90km from the campsite, the town also has cultural treasures to offer such as its piano museum, the only public museum of its kind in France. You will also see the works of Marie Petiet, a painter born in Limoux in the 19th century and quickly recognized for her talent in the intimate Petiet museum.
On a walk with the children (or not), stop at the museum of automata. A team of enthusiasts will present you with automatons inspired by fairy tales, beautifully dressed and skilfully staged. Limoux is both calm and festive, as is the pretty Place de la République where half-timbered houses stand alongside bars and restaurants. On your way out, stop off at Notre Dame de Marceille, a very pretty church with colourful decorations and lovely gardens.
